Emily Dickinson and Her Friend (and Possible Lover), Catherine (Kate) Scott Turner

(Possibly) photographed by J C Spooner.
This photo, released September 2012 by Amherst College and the Emily Dickinson Museum, shows a copy of a circa 1860 daguerreotype purported to show a 30-year-old Emily Dickinson (composer of 1,789 poems), left, with a friend suspected by some to be her lesbian lover.  Other scholars feel her true love was Judge Otis Phillips, unfortunately already married to someone else.
