These are actually crash-test dummies who look and act normal (in a few rather narrowly-focused bands) except that dummies have no thoughts (among other missing things).  At the other end of the spectrum are machine intelligences — lots of thoughts, but no — what?  Versatility?  Awareness?  If you like crash test dummies, here is a photo of the quintessential dummy family, who have recently retired to the Smithsonian.  Interested in recent dummy advancements?
