Eiffel Tower, Paris, Tennessee

This scale model was constructed by engineering students at Christian Brothers University in Memphis to commemorate the 1990 Memphis in May festival.  Because students continually tried to climb the tower (though it couldn’t support their weight), it was donated to Paris, Tennessee and relocated.  There, it’s considered a 60-foot-tall landmark.  As the wood deteriorated, it was replaced by steel through the generosity of local craftsmen.  photo source: file from Eiffel via wikipedia
