Most human beings have an almost infinite capacity for taking things for granted.

-Aldous Huxley

Photography, as a powerful medium of expression and communications,
offers an infinite variety of perception, interpretation and execution.

- Ansel Adams

The "Droste effect" is a Dutch term for a specific kind of recursive picture (in heraldry and film analysis this would be termed mise en abyme).  An Droste effect image has a smaller version of itself in the place where a similar picture would be expected to appear (so named because of the label on Droste cocoa, a Dutch brand that shows a nurse carrying a tray which holds a box of cocoa that has a picture on it of a nurse carrying a tray that holds - well, you get the idea).  I think the Morton's salt container also has (had?) a Droste effect picture on it.
