Ned Kahn's ocean fountain

Ned Kahn, environmental artist/sculptor builds museum exhibits for San Francisco’s Exploratorium, making invisible aspects of nature visible: building facades that move in waves in response to wind; indoor tornado/fog/steam/fire vortices.  This end-of-pier fountain used air pressure surges from passing waves to blow a seawater spray out of the spiral; water cascaded back through a slot in the pier.  Height 7’, completed 1993, destroyed by damage 1996.  (Water damage? Vandalism? Didn’t say.)  photo source: file from wave_spout Video via nedkahn.
